While consulting at Oakton, I worked on the Veteran Centric Reform project at the Department of Veterans' Affairs to improve the online service for current and former serving ADF members and their families. I conducted interviews with clients and stakeholders, facilitated multiple design workshops, prototyped and tested code-based solutions with end users, and led the implementation of prototypes and ideas across disciplines. A few highlights have included developing the MyService brand mark; redesigning the user registration flow; and designing and implementing a design system that aligns with the DTA's UI-Kit. Most recently I also worked to transition MyService to the myGov framework.
I thoroughly enjoyed working closely with this small yet mighty organization. As caretaker of the organisation's brand, I led the production of all marketing materials, produced the quaterly Partyline magazine and facilitated social media traffic growth. I was responsible for the design and development of the organisation's primary website and over half a dozen sub-sites utilising Drupal, WordPress and HTML/CSS/Javascript. A key project I worked on was the re-design of the organisation's website. I facilitated stakeholder workshops and conducted user research to understand the primary functions of the site. To construct the site's information architecture I conducted card-sorting activites, developed wireframes and high fidelity prototypes, then designed, coded and configured the new drupal website. Highlights include developing the branding, marketing materials and all event-based design collateral for the National Rural Health Conference, a biennial event attended by over 1,200 people working across the rural and remote health sector.
Working with the Cybersafety Project team I worked on a variety of Cybersafety projects as both an interaction designer and front-end developer. Key achievements include the redesign of the Cybersafety Help Button website and mobile application for Android and IOS mobile devices. My process involved distillation of existing research into user personas, collaboration on branding and ‘look and feel,’ sketching, wireframing and prototyping, visual design, and a focus on accessibility to ensure the site was WCAG 2.0 AA compliant. I enjoyed working closely with external stakeholders to develop this easy-to-use app that assisted young Australians to get fast access to councelling and support services. I also designed promotional materials used for the 2011 Cybersafety Summit and curated the Youth Advisory Group (YAG) and Teachers Advisory Group (TAP) online forum image libraries with my own designs and photography.
This multi-faceted role utilised my graphic design and website development skills. I maintained the DonateLife website using graphic design, HTML, CSS and Javascript. I managed website content, monitored user feedback through the public facing inbox and contributed to the strategic development and implementation of supporting online activities for marketing and awareness campaigns. Highlights included:
Advanced Diploma, Electronic Design and Digital Imaging
I was the sole creator of the following brand marks:
